Darkness has mostly been the folly of most of the people since time immemorial. It is feared that the darkness brings with it ill luck and failure; the darkness inflicts severe pain; the darkness deviates the person following it from the right path. Be it religion or be it the teachings of the elderly people who serve as our guiding light, the darkness has mostly been presented to us as an ugly and incorrect phase which is said to be associated with the evil. Thus, the darkness has become a dreaded phase of life.
However, if we look into the broader aspects of life, we will realize that the darkness has not always acted as our folly. In fact, many times, the same darkness has served as our benefactor.
The Judgment of Beauty
The darkness is the time of the day when we are not judged by our external appearances. This power of the darkness helps the onlookers to judge the person standing in front of them by considering his or her inner beauty only, thus, making sure that justice prevails.
The daylight is bright and pleasant. It is that time of the day when the painted picture is laid in front of our eyes to marvel at. On the other hand, the darkness gives us a black canvas and gives us the freedom to paint our own picture without having to bother about what the scenario should look like. Thus, the darkness helps in nurturing the creativity of a person.
Overcoming the Loneliness
Being surrounded by people does not necessarily mean that we will be enjoying ourselves. Sometimes, it so happens that even if we are amidst the fun and frolic, we feel left out and lonely even in broad daylight. However, the darkness flips the picture altogether and makes us convert our time of loneliness into a time of introspection. Thus, even though the laughter might be heard, when we cannot see the people enjoying themselves leaving us alone, it is always helpful to think straight and find our own happiness even if we are alone.
Finding the Way
The broad daylight opens up the path before us by showing us the placards that denote the way. The darkness, however, leaves us all by ourselves to figure out the way using our own intellect and confidence.
Facing the Challenges
The broad daylight enables us to see the task at hand. By doing so, we automatically start evaluating whether the task is too easy or too difficult to conquer. As a result of this, we are either charged up with over confidence or bowed down with deep fear. The darkness, however, gives us the opportunity to visualize the challenge at hand instead of seeing it. Because of this advantage, we can face every challenge at hand with the same level of courage and determination. And, in this course, if we win the battle, we are filled with a relieving sense of happiness that boosts our courage, or, if we lose, we gain the determination to face every difficulty that might come our way with greater experience.
Hence, it can truly be perceived that the darkness does not always denote the negative side of life. Rather, it helps in shaping the character of a person by helping him or her deal with the unknown successfully. Thus, the darkness too has its own beauty and charm.
