1. Being fat is a disease
At best, it can be described as “excess weight”. Obesity is a disorder and not a disease. Similarly being overweight isn’t a disease either.

Have you ever seen ads like “lose weight before marriage season”. Ever wondered that why losing weight is important before marriage only? If one wants to lose weight, they should be doing it for lifelong and not for a wedding party.
3. Fat isn’t fit
Fitness really depends on the person. A person who is overweight and yet can walk fast without getting breathless can be called fit. A thin person may not be able to do the same. He or she may have a smoking habit.

Not always true. A person can become fat because of various reasons ranging from thyroid disorders to depression. The fact that depression isn’t a “visible” disease makes it doubly hard on the person.
10. BMI is the only indicator of fitness
Again not true. BMI or the body mass index doesn’t take in account factors like bone structure or fitness of a person. It also doesn’t understand the difference between weight gained through exercise or through eating fatty foods. This means that a well-built person can have a BMI over 30 indicating that they are obese!
11. You can achieve targeted weight loss
Not true at all. The only way to reduce weight is to lose it from everywhere!

Other factors like lifestyle, eating habits, blood pressure should be taken into account when assessing a person’s fitness
16. Fat people have low BMR
Everybody’s BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) becomes slow after they reach 40. In case of women it slows down as they reach 30!
17. Body fat percentage should be as low as possible
The ideal “body fat” level of a person depends on factors like gender, age, bone structure and genetics. Generally, body fat should be within 15 percent for men and 25 percent for women.
18. Fat people cannot run marathons

Fat people might be discriminated against at their workplace. It is up to that person to overcome it.
21. Fat people don’t want to lose weight
There are many who have repeatedly tried and given up. There are many who are confident with their weight. There are many who love the way they are.
