The Mysterious Bermuda triangle

Bermuda triangle

Situated between the Florida, Bermuda and Puerto Rico, the triangle shaped region swallows anything that passes through it.  Yeah, it is the Bermuda triangle! In the last century alone, over 1,000 ships and planes have disappeared without a trace within the 500000 square miles of the Bermuda triangle.

Bermuda Triangle

The name Bermuda triangle was coined by author Vincent Gaddis in the magazine Argosy to explain the perceived phenomenon of air planes and ships going missing without any trace or explanation.

The Flight 19 mystery

Max

In 1945, 14 navy airmen left Florida and took to the skies in a 2 hour flight. This was a part of their training. They called this training exercise Flight 19.

After 1:45 hours into the journey, the crew’s leader radioed the control tower that something was wrong. His compass started to malfunction. He said  ”We don’t know which way is west; everything is wrong; even the ocean doesn’t look as it should”. Flight 19 was never seen again.

The same evening, a search plane with a team of 13 men was sent to locate the missing flight. But 27 minutes later, the search plane disappeared too.

The encounter of Christopher Columbus

When the crew of Christopher Columbus was sailing through the oceans in search of “The New World” , he found a strange phenomenon at a particular place.   His log reported that his crew saw some strange lights and the sea took a spooky rise without any wind. The ship’s compass gave erratic reading. And guess what? It was one of the regions of the Bermuda Triangle.

The Navy ship disappeared

The cargo ship of the US navy called the “USS Cyclops” got lost at sea off coast of Barbados in 1918. The consequence was the loss of 306 lives. This is the biggest loss of life in the US navy history. This is a true mystery because even the US Navy, air force and the coast guard couldn’t figure out where the ship went.

Aliens?

Ellen Austin, an American vessel found a Yacht without any shipmen in the Atlantic Ocean. In order to capture the yacht for themselves, a few members of his crew agreed to man the yacht back to the shore. But during the journey, the two ships separated. When they re-united, the yacht was empty again. The crew had vanished without a trace.

Aliens

The area around the Bermuda triangle has one of the highest incidents of UFO sightings. Many theorists conclude that the men fall victim to alien abductions.

The electronic Fog

Author Gian Quassar believes that the electromagnetic anomalies are responsible for the historic compass breakdowns. He describes the electronic fog as something that will seize the aircraft and travel with you. “You are not flying into the fog; it is flying with you”.

Electronic Fog

The survivor of the Bermuda triangle, Bruce Geron, the floridan piolet describes the Bermuda triangle as a ring shaped electric fog. As he flew through the fog, he was stripped of his visibility. Geron managed to break through the supernatural fog when he saw a tunnel forming in the cloud. When he broke out, he had reached the coast of Miami.

The underwater city of Atlantis

Atlantis

Some theorists blame the submerged city for emitting electromagnetic radiations. It has been suggested that the planes and ships have vanished in this area may have been affected by the leftover technology from this empire such as the ancient crystals. These crystals are thought to have powered the civilization.

A river inside the ocean

Goldstream

The Gulf Stream acts as a river within the Atlantic Ocean. It flows through the Straits of Florida into the North Atlantic Ocean. If it can flow without mixing into the ocean, imagine how much force it would have! Its powerful current is a possible explanation of why ships and planes may be swept away, erasing any evidence of the disaster.

The Puerto Rico trench

The Puerto Rico trench is the deepest area in the Atlantic Ocean.  It is about 29,000 feet below the ocean surface. Surprisingly, it is located within the Bermuda triangle. Any aircraft or ship destroyed in the Bermuda triangle would sink so far from the surface. It would never be reached.

Rico trench

Though there are valuable reasons to explain the Bermuda triangle, there is no exact proof of where the ships planes and men went! Despite the advanced tracking devices and all the things we know of the world, the world is still a big space for the mysteries to hide.
