AMD, the chip-manufacturing company is one of the leading names in that industry. To give a tight competition to Intel, the company started working on new technologies and products and is releasing it one by one. This American semiconductor company is eyeing on both the processors and graphic cards at present.
While we have already seen its high-end processors line-up AMD Ryzen, the company is now completely focused on its major product release that is Radeon Vega. Vega is the high-end graphic cards that are according to AMD, will easily dominate all the competitors.
AMD Ryzen, the processors line up got the attention it needed. It already received a huge success with AMD Ryzen whose benchmarks have beaten those of Intel in all categories at a relatively cheap price. Even though the processor were not great as expected with graphics, that will soon be solved with its new graphic cards family of Vega.
AMD announced its first graphic card of the line-up named as Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. This is a high-end graphic card for professionals and building workstations. The card is just one of the various versions of Vega. Here are the cards that come under Vega family:
- Radeon Frontier Edition (For Professionals)
- Radeon RX (Heavy Gaming)
- Radeon Pro
- Radeon Instinct
AMD is claiming that Frontier Edition is the fastest graphic card in the world boasting next-generation architecture and high specifications. Here are the key features of Frontier Edition:
- 64 Compute units
- Single processor performance of 13 TeraFlops
- Boost speed of about 1.56GHz
- 16GB High Bandwith Memory (HBM2)
Even though the above specs may not make sense for everyone, in simple words - The Graphic card leads in every feature. The benchmarks performed under various conditions also revealed that AMD claims are not false.
The one of the many results above displayed shows that Frontier Edition just leads in every aspect. The CAD applications mentioned above runs very smoothly on this graphic card. AMD also suggested Gamers to wait a bit more for their cheaper RX card.
AMD suggests that this high-end card will be the best choice for Scientists, Engineers, Designers and Professionals. The card will hit market in June and the rest of the line-up will follow. Vega is the architecture AMD promised a year back and AMD fanbase are rejoicing that it now has the potential for competing with Nvdia.
Though AMD entered the party lately, chances of it succeeding is high. But beating Nvidia's best graphic cards which are nearly a year old may not be the best achievemnt to brag out. But if Vega is the next-generation architecture AMD is mentioning, then there is no doubt that this line-up will lead the market.
