The Frenchman has won yet another award for his terrific performances in the Premier League. Conte is named player of the year, by Football Writers’ Association (FWA). Earlier, he also won the PFA player of the year award.
Relentless hard work:-
Kante is the true definition of hard work. 2 years ago no one knew, the now popular name, Kante. In last 2 years, Kante has transformed his life by winning two League titles(Chelsea almost won th title). Looking at the small size of the player, it is normal tendency of people to write off the player. However, Kante has used that to his full advantage, by silently doing his work and grabbed every opportunity he got. His small size is no measure of the humongous legacy he is creating.
Season with Leicester City:-
He built his name with the minnows, Leicester City. Last year, the fairy-tale run of the club led them to the title victory. Vardy and Mahrez were the players who topped the scoring charts of the season. However, it was the man from France in midfielder, who did all the dirty work. He intercepted the ball at main junctures and gave the team crucial breaks. He ran up and down all over the ground, covering each blade of the grass. That’s what sets him apart from everyone else, his relentless hard work.
Season with Chelsea:-
Seeing his exploits with Leicester, he was signed by newly appointed manager Conte. He has been a regular feature in the playing XI of the team ever since. With his sheer hard work, he has cemented his place in the squad and also in the heart of the fans. This season again, he was fantastic in the midfield. Midfield is his territory and no one can outclass him in that department. With occasional screamers from outside the box, he has turned out to be a complete player for the club.
FWA Player of the Year Award:-
The FWA revealed Kante and runner-up Hazard had combined for over 65 per cent of the total votes cast in his latest triumph. This was hardly surprising, given the sensational form both players have been.
"It is a fantastic honour to win this award," Kante said.
"With so many great players in this Chelsea squad and in the Premier League, for the Football Writers' Association to name me their Footballer of the Year is a very proud moment in my career."
As humble a person he is, he downplayed his achievement. With this award, he is now the fourth Chelsea player to win the prestigious award. Last year, it was won by his former team-mate Jamie Vardy.
He will be presented the award at a gala dinner on May 18th.
